Day 10 – Online Gems

Such a lovely social Zoom call this morning with some TimeBankers. It was really nice and I tried running break out rooms for the first time. It’s where you can put participants into rooms (e.g. of 2 or 3 people in each) -either manually assign who goes with who or let zoom do it automatically… then participants can only see who is in their room. Great to get more people talking together than if everyone is on the main call the whole time! I […]

Day 9

Boring post alert! It’s 7.34pm Friday night and I am wondering what to write today! I have started a post about food.. but that will have to wait for another day as I want to make a few things and take photos to illustrate how I make bread, milk, crackers, sprouts etc. I reckon the Food Special will be a good post.. but it aint ready yet. Today went fast… again… I really don’t know where the days are disappearing to. I feel like […]

Day 8 – Shop & Work day

Today started out very cloudy and foggy but turned into a beautiful sunny day, just like yesterday! I started the day at 7am with an hour and a half conference call with international TimeBank coordinators (most of the callers were in the US and it was their Wednesday afternoon). I then did two loads of washing, an hour of body combat, and left the house to go to the Green Grocer and the Supermarket. Was stoked the Green Grocer was still open – this […]

Day 7

Today I… woke with an incredibly itchy throat (again) – took nasal spray for allergies and a pill which I’ve tried to avoid taking every day but realise I need to or I suffer with itchy eyes, throat and runny nose. (I haven’t really been snot free since start of January – combination of a cold or two and allergies – not sure what is causing the allergy). Am very grateful I don’t have a cough or fever!! watched 2 episodes of TV on […]

Day 6 – House Tour!

Another lovely day in lock-down… went super fast though! Got some Te Reo Māori study done today, a Body Combat session, cooking and also meal planning for the next week. I’ve assembled a bit of a shopping list and realised we will need to go to the supermarket soon – bugger. It’s not a place I shop very often (as we usually buy where we can avoid packaging/ fill our own containers – i.e. Bin Inn and Pikos in Christchurch). With reports I’ve seen […]

Day 4 – Marrow Mission

Today was all about making yummy goodness out of the Monster Marrow!! If you missed it, I discovered a massive 7kg zucchini turned marrow turned monster hiding in the plot of silverbeet the other day. This was in addition to the various types of zucchini and normal size marrows I’ve picked… with more in the garden. I’ve already had numerous meals of zucchini and made about 20 jars of zucchini salsa… so today it was time to try some other recipes. This was my […]

Lock-down Day 3

Lazy Saturday helllloooo! Body clock seemed to know it was the weekend and let me sleep in until 6.45, whoop whoop. I then stayed in bed for hours… talking with Antony, facebooking, whats app’ing friends and reading. Antony has been VERY busy this week advising his clients as best he can about the government support for businesses and what their options are in the current situation. He’s an accountant so also has all the 2019 accounts that need to be in by the end […]

Lock-down Day 2

I woke at 5.07am and lay awake for 40 minutes trying to sleep again then gave up and read things on my phone for an hour and a half before getting up. I read a distressing long article about things in the US… all along that’s been the country that has concerned me most … given their incompetent leadership, lack of a public health service etc. I learned from an American friend living there that people were ignoring demands to self- isolate and keep […]

Lock-down Day 1

And so it begins… today is the first official day of nation-wide lock-down. Right across New Zealand last night phones beeped loudly (even those on silent) as the government issued a National Emergency Management Alert. New Zealanders are to stay home. If we don’t work in essential services, we are not to drive anywhere except to health centres/ hospital or supermarkets. Police will be making sure we follow these rules. A walk or bike ride in our local area is ok but only alone […]

Lock-down Day Zero

Lockdown Level 4 begins at midnight tonight. I left the house once today to enjoy a full body massage from the wonderful Rebecca… the last human touch aside from Antony for sometime! There was thorough hand washing (check out the instructions!) prior to beginning and nose and face covered when I was face up … then lots of disinfecting surfaces I’d touched before the next client was in. I came home, sat on my chair, looked out at my garden on this beautiful sunny […]
