Day 23

Last night I video chatted with friends in Dunedin and then my host parents in Denmark. Then we got on zoom and set up Ticket to Ride and played with my parents who are in isolation in Naseby. Lots of fun 🙂

Yay for technology that makes it so easy to connect these days! It doesn’t seem THAT long ago that I was living overseas before email was invented… writing and receiving letters in the post! Such a different world, in a relatively short time frame eh.

I am really sore today after Robert’s HIIT class yesterday! I can feel all kinds of muscles in my butt and my legs that make bending down to get something off the floor quite a challenge! Was good to stretch out during body balance this morning but my nose was both blocked and running which presented challenges when hanging in ‘forward fold’ or in the many other positions when being told to breathe in through the nose!

I did a little TimeBank work today including the funding report I’d been putting off. Now it just needs the budget to go with it and I can send it off. The treasurer has spent most of the day on work calls so he doesn’t yet know I need it…. I think we already have a budget that shows what we need to show… so hopefully that can get flicked off soon.

I did some meal planning for the next week and drew up a shopping list. The car had just its second outing during lockdown – to the Green Grocer in Tinwald and then Countdown. I was lucky again not to have to wait to enter either shop and found almost all I needed. Again there was a fantail in Countdown! I wonder if it lives there – anyone else seen it? I looked for jackfruit and was pleased to discover the supermarket stocked it and it was so cheap! After my initial jackfruit meal success I decided it was worth another try. 🙂 It is in a can which is a drawback waste wise but so practical to have on hand in the cupboard.

I managed to get sidetracked this morning clearing out a few drawers of miscellaneous toiletries, bags, medications, lip sticks, hair clips etc. I put some rather nice things aside ready for ‘The Big Swap’ later in the year and turfed other things (like old deodorant that I will never wear again now that I use natural stuff).

In the process of sorting, I discovered a pair of glasses I got at the same time as my current ones. I put them on and could see much clearer with them than my usual black frames which are rather scratched and worn after daily use for 8 years. So I’m wearing my tortoise shell ones for a bit! They had a 2 for 1 deal when I bought them back in 2011 or 2012 but they never sat on my face as well as the others so consequently I’ve almost never worn them. What do you think?

I’m planning on a Korean meal tonight – bibimbap, yum! Then looking forward to my first bridge tournament online – it’s with others from the Ashburton Bridge club so that will be fun!

Hope you my dear readers are doing well in your bubbles or wherever you may be.

About the Author

Born and bred in New Zealand's South Island, this Kiwi likes getting 'out there' exploring the world and its wonderful people! I have taught English in South Korea, volunteered in Kyrgyzstan, studied in Denmark, lived in community in Scotland and visited friends and wonderful people all over the world. Now married to Antony the adventures continue together. I have a habit of being notoriously behind in my blog - but will do what I can to record my adventures, as much for my own record as anything (as I have a terrible memory). After an amazing year in Iran and Europe, in 2016, Antony and I are off again September 29 2019 - Feb 1 2020. Hopefully I can blog about most of what we get up to! Enjoy the read! Kate x
