Day 28

Zoom zoom zoom… Was part of 4 zoom calls today! First three with classes – year 4, 5 and 7, then later hosting a call for timebankers from around Canterbury. Was great to see the students again but a little dismaying to discover that none of them had seen the videos I’d made for them yet! So I shared my screen to show them where the videos were – hopefully some of them may look at them now. I loved the theme for the year 7 zoom call – they dressed up as mad scientists and looked fantastic!

I spent a couple of hours doing timebank work today as well – putting together our weekly newsletter (The Buzz) this time with a video greeting instead of typed one. I tidied up a number of loose ends which was good – there’s always more to do but am feeling reasonably up to date with TimeBank work.

I finished pruning the hebes in the garden by the letterbox and had a lovely chat with an older neighbour (from a few doors away) who was out on his walk. I spent some time in the kitchen making roast pumpkin fritters, baked potatoes, a salad for dinner and an apple cobbler for dessert. We’ve finally eaten all our pears so just have a few apples left which Antony picked today – they are delicious- too good to cook so I used up apples from the freezer.

Forgot to take photos today – yet another beautiful autumn day! So I’ll just share this one that someone sent me… they took it during our TimeBank zoom earlier tonight…. I think I’m mid sentence.

Such a familiar lockdown look eh! The old zoom calls.

I’ve started watching a new series on TV on demand called Capture. Oooo it is so intriguing. After a 5.30am start this morning I am super tired and should go to bed but I think I’ll sneak in another episode! After two late nights and early mornings I really hope I can sleep in a bit tomorrow!

About the Author

Born and bred in New Zealand's South Island, this Kiwi likes getting 'out there' exploring the world and its wonderful people! I have taught English in South Korea, volunteered in Kyrgyzstan, studied in Denmark, lived in community in Scotland and visited friends and wonderful people all over the world. Now married to Antony the adventures continue together. I have a habit of being notoriously behind in my blog - but will do what I can to record my adventures, as much for my own record as anything (as I have a terrible memory). After an amazing year in Iran and Europe, in 2016, Antony and I are off again September 29 2019 - Feb 1 2020. Hopefully I can blog about most of what we get up to! Enjoy the read! Kate x
