Day 37

Just a quick update as I have a bridge tournament starting soon… I said yesterday I was going to have stuffed marrow for dinner… was quite excited about trying my new recipe. I made the ‘stuffing’ part and then Antony sliced open the marrow… only to discover there was no big seedy middle bit to take out where the stuffing should go! He took out a very small seedy bit at one end- would have fit about a tablespoon of filling in it! So […]

Day 36 – The Dishwasher Incident

Last night I went to the kitchen to put the kettle on for my hot water bottle and I discover the kitchen floor is flooded – so I get Antony who’d just gone to bed. I was like- there must be something wrong with the dishwasher… then I opened the door (it had just finished its cycle). This is what greeted me: I was like… Ants what did you put in the dishwasher??? He pulled out the container of liquid dishwashing stuff we use […]

Day 34 – Lockdown Level 3 begins

So today we moved to Level 3 of New Zealand’s Covid 19 alert level system. It’s still heavily restricted- I won’t have any social contact with anyone except Antony but was able to see my colleagues today – keeping our 1m distance at our staff meeting. I wasn’t sure if I’d keep blogging in Level 3 but felt like a quick update from today… so here you go. 3.19am – woke up before my alarm and thought that’s good.. until I saw the time! […]

Day 33: Last day of Level 4 Lockdown!

If you missed Day 32 it was because I didn’t post a lockdown update yesterday! Instead I published this post about Wadi Rum, one of the highlights of our time in Jordan last November. Please read it and be amazed at these wonderful places on our planet! My travel posts take me many, many hours to write. I have so many amazing experiences and photos from each place that it is hard to choose what makes it to the blog and what to leave […]

Day 31 – Anzac Day

Guess what I spent a few hours doing today? I also spent a few hours writing a travel blog post. I am really far behind in the ‘explore’ section on this blog.. just now writing about Jordan which is where we were in November! Oh well.. better late than never. Each post takes me hours as I trawl through my photos to choose the good ones (there are so many!) and look up details on places that we visited and things we saw. But […]

Day 30

Back to warm, sunny days again 19 degrees today, 21 forecast tomorrow… Antony is pretty excited that we can likely play golf again from Tuesday.. and the weather looks good! We haven’t heard for sure when our course will open, but next week it’s likely. I probably can’t hold a club yet as I’m still recovering from my hand injury… but I might go out anyway to keep Ants company, get some fresh air and help him locate his ball. We can only play […]

Day 29

A cloudy day! That makes news…. it’s a first in ages. I had to put the heat pump on during the day which I haven’t needed to do most of lock-down. I didn’t even venture outdoors today. I did get a high intensity interval training session done first thing but the rest of the day was very stationary! The day was a busy one on the computer with a couple of zoom calls for both jobs. I had a zoom call with Māori students […]

Day 28

Zoom zoom zoom… Was part of 4 zoom calls today! First three with classes – year 4, 5 and 7, then later hosting a call for timebankers from around Canterbury. Was great to see the students again but a little dismaying to discover that none of them had seen the videos I’d made for them yet! So I shared my screen to show them where the videos were – hopefully some of them may look at them now. I loved the theme for the […]

Day 27

Another seriously lovely day… incredible how many sunny days we’ve had in a row… anyone counting? It’s been weeks! I got so into puzzle sorting mode last night it was almost midnight before I got to bed… then up at 6.30 this morning… so was very sleepy this afternoon! I was on the local radio this morning about 7.20 talking about the Meditation Panel I’m facilitating tonight… I’ll be back on the radio at 8.45 on Friday talking crafternoons and garden Q & As. […]

Day 26

After feeling like the days have just been disappearing so fast I decided to get up when I woke up this morning and exercise then, instead of pottering about waiting til the 9am Les Mills class on TV. It was also Body Balance this morning which I did yesterday so I felt like a different workout. So I was up before 7 and into the Les Mills online ballet workout. Then I did a thorough clean of the bathroom including shower, cleaned the microwave, […]
